New York – 23 April 2015 – H.E. Mr. Ahmed Sareer, Permanent Representative, delivered an intervention during the Interactive Dialogue with Major Groups and Stakeholders engaged in the Finance for Development and Post-2015 Development Agenda (PDA) Processes.

The session focussed on the relationship between the FfD processes and the PDA Process, including i) global partnerships and possible key deliverables and transformative ideas in various areas ii) followup and review on FfD and Means of Implementation and iii) coherence between the post-2015 and FfD outcome documents.

During the interactive dialogue the Maldives underscored that despite the complementarity and inter-linkages of the two processes, both remain two separate processes in their scope and substance. Where FfD provides a concrete framework to mobilise financing for development, the ambitious framework of the post-2015 agenda includes goals and targets that must be specifically addressed in terms of means of implementation.

Furthermore, Mr. Sareer reiterated once again that sustainable development challenges can be achieved only with a broad alliance of people, governments, civil society and the private sector, all working together to achieve the future we want for present and future generations.
