Tony Blair, former UK Prime Minister and Mayor Michael Bloomberg held speeches, remarking the importance of uniting behind the common struggle for a greener future. Minister Shakir’s presence underscored the Maldives’ strong commitment to side with all those fighting Climate Change.
The Climate Week NYC has evolved into one of the decisive events on Energy and Climate Change addressing the need to revolutionize the world’s energy systems. The annual summit boasts high-level meetings and brings together governments, business leaders and public figures who join in the struggle for a green revolution.
With 9 billion people living on the planet by 2050, the world’s energy demand will rise drastically. The Climate Week wants to explore how this demand can be met in a sustainable way, using clean technologies and raising energy efficiency.
The Climate Week’s ambitions coincide with the Maldives strong commitment to a sustainable future and its promise to the international community to become carbon neutral by 2020.
