New York, 23 September 2016; Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives, Dr. Mohamed Asim met with the Assistant Secretary General of the Department of Political Affairs of UN, Mr. Miroslav Jenča today at the UN Headquarters in New York.
During the meeting today, Minister Asim thanked the Assistant Secretary General and the Department of Political Affairs for their readiness and assistance in facilitating political dialogue in the country. The Minister also reiterated the Government's commitment to continuing this dialogue with the assistance of the United Nations to attain progress and long term political stability in the country.
The Assistant Secretary General noted that he was encouraged by the Government's commitment and stressed that all parties to show flexibility in all party talks for constructive political dialogue.
The meeting was attended by Foreign Secretary Dr. Ali Naseer Mohamed and Mr. Ahmed Sareer, Ambassador/ Permanent Representative of the Maldives to the United Nations.
