23 March 2018, New York, Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Mohamed Asim met with the Secretary General of the United Nations Mr António Guterres, today.
During the meeting, the Secretary General expressed his appreciation for the active contribution of the Maldives, as Chair of the Alliance of Small Island States in the discussions on the United Nations Development System reform process, as well as commended the work done by the Maldives on raising the profile and awareness on the impacts of climate change.
Minister Asim thanked Secretary General Guterres for his various reform initiatives, and his leadership on climate change. The Minister also briefed the Secretary General on the recent political developments in the Maldives.
