Ambassador Ahmed Sareer, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Maldives to the United Nations, met today with the President of the General Assembly Mogens Lykketoft.

 

Ambassador Sareer, in his capacity as the Chair of the Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS) highlighted the key priorities for Small Island Developing States in the seventieth session, including key deliverables of the SAMOA Pathway: the Partnership Framework and the Comprehensive Review of UN System Support for SIDS. Ambassador Sareer and the President of the General Assembly also discussed the implementation and followup and review of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the Addis Ababa Action Agenda, as well as the ongoing negotiations on a new climate agreement at the upcoming 21st Conference of Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.Ambassador Sareer assured committment to working closely with the President of the General Assembly and his team during the ongoing session to realize the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and other key priorities.
