New York, 19 September 2017, Minister of Environment and Energy H.E Thoriq Ibrahim participated at High Level Event: Towards Implementation of the International Decade of Action "Water for Sustainable Development" today. The meeting emphasis the importance of timely implementation of Sustainable Development Goals Particularly Goal 6.
Minister highlighted the importance of improving access to safe and clean water and sanitation in Small Island Developing States its direct impact on enchancing the standard of living in islands communities. He said that worsening effects of Climate Change adds to the already critical sectors in the islands. Minister emphasized that the establishment of International Decade of Action "Water for Sustainable Development" is crucial for generating political momentum around this very important issue.
