The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ms. Dunya Maumoon met the UN Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs Mr. Miroslav Jenca at the sidelines of the 70th Session of the UN General Assembly.
The Minister and the Assistant Secretary General discussed on the ongoing areas of engagement between the Maldives and the Department of Political Affairs. Mr. Jenca assured Minister Dunya of the UN Secretary General’s commitment to assist the Government of Maldives on its initiatives to strengthen the democratic framework. The Assistant Secretary General shared with the Minister of his Department’s work-plan of action for the Maldives in the coming months.
Both discussed the ways in which the engagement could be further enhanced through the United Nations Development Assistance Framework that was signed in August 2015
