"Africa is a valued partner of the Maldives" Minister Asim

23 March 2018, New York, Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Mohamed Asim met with the Permanent Representatives of the Africa Group today, with a view to facilitate greater dialogue and cooperation with the countries of Africa. In this regard, he highlighted the various links that Maldives and African countries have cultivated over the years, and outlined how the Maldives wishes to build and improve on them. Minister Asim also highlighted the importance of the representation of Africa among the permanent members of the Security Council, and the need to build better linkages between the Security Council, and the regional and sub-regional organisations of Africa. The Permanent Representatives thanked the Minister for participating in the discussion, and sharing the Maldives priorities and ideas. ENDS
