New York, 23 September 2016; Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives, Dr. Mohamed Asim met with the United Nations Secretary General, Mr. Ban Ki-moon today at the UN Headquarters in New York.
During the meeting, the Secretary General expressed his appreciation of the leadership that the Maldives has been demonstrating on global issues such as climate change and sustainable development.
Minister Asim thanked the Secretary General and his team for their excellent and close partnership with the Maldives, in its capacity as the Chair of AOSIS.The Minister also noted that the Secretary General has remained a consistent advocate for climate change and that the Maldives appreciates his strong leadership.
Minister Asim also briefed the Secretary General on political developments in the Maldives. The Secretary General assured the UN's support and assistance for the Maldives in the political dialogue process.
Invest Maldives, the government agency entrusted with promoting, licensing and registering foreign investments in the country, is the first port of call for all foreigners keen to invest in the Maldives.
